What is medain saleh?

Medain Saleh, also known as Al-Hijr, is an ancient archaeological site located in the northwestern region of Saudi Arabia. It is considered to be the second most important site after Petra in Jordan. The site is an important remnant of the Nabataean civilization that flourished in the region more than 2,000 years ago. The Nabataeans developed a trading empire with Petra as their capital and Medain Saleh as a major center for trade. The site features tombs and other architectural structures carved into sandstone cliffs. The site was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008. Today, it is a popular tourist destination for both locals and foreigners.
